Code of Conduct for Spectators & Parents:
This code of conduct, together with the Club’s Child Protection Policy is applicable to all parents of players registered with Riverside Football Club and all spectators who watch any Riverside Football Club team play football at anytime.
Parents/Spectators have a great influence on children’s enjoyment and success in football. All children play football because they first and foremost love the game - it’s fun. It is important to remember that however good a child becomes at football within his/her club that positive, supportive messages of encouragement should be provided by parents/spectators at all times. This will contribute to:
- children enjoying football;
- a sense of personal achievement;
- increased self-esteem; and
- improving the child’s skills and techniques.
A parent’s/spectator’s expectations and attitudes have a significant bearing on a child’s attitude towards:
- other players;
- officials;
- managers; and
- spectators.
Parent /spectators associated with the Club must always be positive and encourage all children not just their own.
Parents/spectators must:
- applaud the opposition as well as your own team;
- avoid coaching the child during the game;
- respect the referee’s decision;
- respect the decisions of the coach/manager;
- give attention to each of the children involved in football not just the most talented;
- give encouragement to everyone to participate in the spirit of football;
- must consistently display high standards of behaviour; and
- must not use or tolerate inappropriate language.
Parents/spectators associated with the Club must adhere to this Club’s Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policy.
